The Network Readiness Index (NRI) was first published by the World Economic Forum as part of the Global Information Technology Report. However, starting in 2019, the Portulans Institute in Washington DC took over publishing it. In 2019, a new structure of the index ( pillars, sub-pillars, and indicators) was redesigned, and they made some changes to better match how much we use digital technology nowadays.
Although the scale ranged from 1 to 7 between 2012 and 2016, it shifted to a scale of 0 to 100 in 2019.
Therefore, when comparing scores and rankings, it is pertinent to begin the analysis from the year 2019.
